How I Work
My approach is grounded in psychodynamic and attachment theory with a holistic emphasis—each therapy is tailored to your individual needs, life circumstances, and history. I work in a depth-oriented approach, meaning we are working with the roots of psychological problems while exploring the challenges of the present.
I work in a way that acknowledges systemic and cultural oppression. I work with clients to understand how they fit into these social systems of power relations, how they are impacted, and what to do about it.
I work with the client-therapist relationship as a way for us to understand and address patterns that may occur in other relationships, and in life generally.
My style is collaborative, warm, and non-judgmental. I aim to meet you where you are at in any given moment with mindfulness, heart, and skill.
Individuals
I work to meet you where you are at in your life in order to attend to your individual needs in a holistic way. This often means working collaboratively to understand how your past is affecting you now. In our work together, I aim to bring all my attention and skill toward gently supporting you to engage with yourself in a more authentic and spacious way. I have helped people with depression, anxiety, grief, self-esteem issues, identity and developmental issues, chronic pain, heartbreak, and childhood trauma, to name a few.
Couples
Intimate relationships can be difficult and painful in deep ways that are complex and difficult to understand. They are simultaneously the place of potential comfort and great pain. I help couples understand why they are triggered by each other and how to communicate differently. Much of this work is done by bringing attention to emotional patterns in the present as they occur between you. Sometimes it is necessary to bring up how past relationships are affecting your current one. I have helped couples with communication issues, intimacy issues, estrangement, and conflict resolution.
Families
Finding healing in our families can be life changing. Often it is the right choice to seek therapy as a family since the problems of an individual are so strongly linked to relationship dynamics and culture within the family system. I help families understand how the system they are creating together has a life of its own, as well as how to change it.
